Just finished this story… and I cannot but agree with you 100%. You are not alone in this, even though I did become emotional a bit towards the end.
I especially understand what you mean when you mentioned being ‘sympathetic’ towards the characters, but not being able to fully connect with them.
I have some other ‘ideas’ on what may be ‘missing/off’ in my opinion, but to be honest I am not here to make arguments.
Overall, yes, a good story, but definitely not something I would read again or that would really stick in my mind.
Um, so.. I just finished reading this and I expected to cry horrendously since almost all of the comments here expressed that this was such a peak read but idk.. maybe it's just not for me. I mean it's good but I think I kinda smelled what would happen 60 chapters away into reading. It is a good manhwa and for sure has a good storytelling. But I personally kind of couldn't connect with it emotionally, I just felt sympathetic towards the characters. It really feels real though. Idk maybe I'm just too shallow and I feel like I'm missing out on something..
