They’re probably afraid the kids would be confused and hurt that their father isn't the same as he used to be. Just imagine the shock the kid would take once he learned his father doesn’t even remember him. And also if ever the amnesiac father acted as their father, wouldn’t the kid be confused since his father isn't the same? Especially the lack of emotional attachment between father and son relationship. Idk, this is just my opinion though (=・ω・=)
