Move on

Lexi May 30, 2026 9:17 pm

It’s the season finale, the next season probably won’t be here until next year, and yall are…hung up on the fact that Noa uploaded something and changed some lines because she wanted to improve her reading experience? For the better, mind you? Until she made her change today, the quote was still “Dih”. And that word choice alone turned what was supposed to be a melodramatic story about second chance lovers with guilt and angst into a comedy no one took seriously.

It was unserious like she said. The three line changes she made might seem small, but they make the scene feel emotionally sincere, and increase the romantic tension for me. Translating isn’t 1:1; she didn’t change what they were communicating, she changed how they communicated it.

I write stories. If a character is embarrassed, possessive, nervous, jealous, affectionate, or teasing, there are so many ways to show that in English. So why can’t there be two chapters that clearly show it? I see no issue with it, you’re free to read what you want.

And then, yall are upset that she changed the word “Dih” and some other things when clearly, other people wanted it changed as well. So many people liked the new version that the OG translator changed “Dih” at least (I think she just used the one Noa changed, but I digress). If the original translator was okay with it being changed, she shouldn’t have made that choice in the first place, this could have all been avoided.

Instead of letting the translator take feedback and grow from it, y’all are defending everything blindly and trying to dog pile on someone who only had good intentions. But I guarantee that if Noa had figured out how to buy the chapter and translated it, and uploaded, y'all would still have an issue because the translator would still have an issue. Her problem doesn’t really seem to be “you stole my translation” because if it were, she wouldn’t have changed that. I think she just feels possessive over the story in general, which is why I think it doesn’t matter if Noa redoes the whole chapter or not.

If she uploaded it right now, it would start an entirely different argument. Stop saying this talking point, yall are being disingenuous. Get over it.

Anyway, since Noa decided to try translating, I almost want to buy it for her and prove a point because I’m petty. But it’s not that serious, get over yourselves.

As for Noa: ignore them. Seriously, I don’t even know why they’re going so hard for a translation that was arguable so wrong even the author would have had a problem with it. Both translations can exist, and yours makes the story flow better. Start blocking people. I’m not arguing with anybody else, and neither should you. In fact, block the translator too. Don’t just let them harass you.

And she made it closer to the book translation! I hate when translators choose slang words as it ages a stoey and make it stuck in a spesific time period, and also takes you out of a story! I loved her changing it to fit the og stoey better and bring bavk the serious mood of the moment that was stolen by an unserious and temporary trendy word

Idk why you're adding so much stuff when the issue is she did not ask permission to use the chapter someone else paid for, translated, and uploaded here, its a fact she didn't

This is the first time she ever translated anything, I honestly don’t think it occurred to her to ask for permission. And even then, considering how hung up on “Dih” and offended the translator was, I don’t think she would have changed it. If she cared, she would have changed it when she saw the other complaints. She only changed it today, and after some more arguments.

Right! It really ruined the story for me. I didn’t say anything because I was hoping she was going to come here and change it herself, saying it was “just a joke”.

See? You just keep saying if she would've just basing things in suppositions, idk of this is her first time translating or not just know if you want to translate it at least buy the chapter yourself that's it

I’m not arguing with you. I don’t know if you read her other responses, and I don’t care. She didn’t know where to find the raws, she explicitly stated she looked, and neither did I. Someone mentioned ridibooks, now we know, even though the website itself looks complicated. But I guarantee that if she does the chapter right now and re-uploads it, you would still have an issue. She has been nothing but civil and trying to de-escalate despite being called everything under the sun. Move on. And if you respond, do it carefully, because the moment this starts feeling like an argument I’m blocking you.

And maybe before you do that, go do some more reading, the comments are there for you to see. But don’t just jump in here on some dumbass hate train, maybe read what was said.

    uwu May 30, 2026 10:06 pm

You're so defensive I'm not jumping on a hate train for stating facts you refuse to acknowledge on every response and yes I've read all that, if you feel this is offensive to you sure go ahead and block me

If I seem defensive, it’s probably because I feel like I’ve been arguing all day. I already said in my message people will simply get blocked, I’m not going to argue. I saw your point, I addressed it, I think it’s a matter of comprehension at this point. You came under my comment saying you “don’t know why [i’m] adding so much stuff”. I wasn’t adding anything, that response is in direct answer to all the points that were made in the arguments today. And then, you were saying: it doesn’t matter, she should have asked for permission, everything else aside.

Im saying: she didn’t know she had to ask in the first place. And considering how civil she was being, I’m sure she would have asked. Someone argued earlier that “anyone with two brain cells and google” could find the raws, and yet when I searched, I could not. And I only knew of Ridibooks because they mentioned it in the comment. I doubt she would have had any reason to know what ridibooks is when she was not interested in translating anything before and said so in some earlier comments.

And then I said: even then, it would not have mattered, because I don’t think the og translator really cares about that. And that assumption is based on how I observed her respond to others, and respond to myself. It’s not just supposition. And I don’t have anything else to say to you and I can’t imagine you have anything else to say either.

Third party opinion coming in to stop this back and forth although I might prolly be lengthening this conversation. That ‘while taking dih’ was seriously off putting. Appreciate that this is free but honestly partaking in translations to contort the real intent of the author’s text even as a joke is unprofessional so I am with Lexi on this. To your point uwu on ‘this is free so we can change it however. Else, buy if you want to read the actual translations’ is implying that it is fine to take any author’s works and contort the meaning to fit your needs. So then I question, Why even translate in the first place if the initial intent was to replace original content? What was the purpose of putting all that effort but in the end you were going to dishonor the real work of the author? If you can’t give respect to the author, don’t do it thinking ‘I am doing the people a great deed so read whatever translations I give you.’ I’d rather not read such translations and I’d rather the translator not waste their time translating as well if the idea was to discredit the author’s work. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.

    I get you so hard!!!

Starting a translation comes with a lot of responsibility. If you begin something and then suddenly throw in brainrot humor mid chapter for “comedic relief” that wasn’t even needed, then what’s the point of translating it in the first place? Why not just use TL notes, which are perfectly fine?
Also, everyone calling Noa a “stealer” while this entire website is built on reading work for free is so ironic. Calling someone a thief for “stealing” your free work while you’re also taking someone else’s work and probably profiting off it, especially with a Kofi page, is just ridiculous to me.
I had a brief bit of drama on one of my own translations when a few AI translations popped up and uploaded over mine. When I saw people calling the uploader stupid and saying every insult possible I stepped in to deescalate the situation like right away. Everything after that was handled privately, and Yoshi just continuing to fuel the drama when Noa stayed civil the whole time and even apologized is honestly so telling about them.
And don’t even get me started on the people defending saying “if you like Noa’s translation so much, then Yoshi should just delete theirs and leave it to her.” That’s just petty and literally zero correlation

I really hope Noa is doing okay. She did an amazing job, and I genuinely hope we get to see her translating or uploading something else in the future

So I think you may have read my response too fast or you didn't understand bc I didn't say read the officials?? I get your point on honoring the author and artist's work, the way I see it the dih part was offputing nothing else more than that and just like you said just bc you can doesn't mean you should maybe if you're going to fix someone else's translation ask them about it, I see that's very common on various mangas people here even ask permission to upload unlike mythtoons and those ai bots do

Since yoshi changed it back to “taking dih” then asking would have been a clear waste of time anyway, so this? A moot point.
