i absolutely love how the two of them grew so fond of each other. at first, i was skeptical of dr.lee’s actions for i knew instantly that she was using dr. arden for her own benefit. yet, at the same time, i completely understood her intentions and her choice to draw a line between them two. i mean, to fully entrust your heart to someone is both a terrifying and deeply vulnerable leap of faith that requires an immense amount of courage. i honestly don't know what to say about dr. arden, except that i love this woman so much! i admire how she carries herself with independence and bravery, while still being completely unafraid to show her love. aside from the compelling characters, what made me love this story the most is how perfectly it depicts the way those in power exploit people in poverty, and how women are trampled on and easily overlooked, despite their incredible achievements, intelligence, and how much they contribute to society, their voices are constantly minimized by a patriarchal system that refuses to give them the respect they deserve. everything about this is perfect, i wish i could read it again for the first time.
