Although I like that the story didn't beat around the bush, I could tell certain parts were rushed which led to some characters being wasted potential as they could've given the story more depth in aspects that were related to its focus on healing oneself. Adele seemed like a random insert as her ending was boring and her curse being so easily broken (and barely affected mc throughout the story). Her end was lacking depth for me, but it was unique in the sense that I have never read a story with such a love rival (?) And I doubt it would be common in the first place.
Hessen's end truly disappointed me the most. His care for Lily kept being shown that it was a clear buildup for a more memorable/significant scene instead of that half-assed fight, conversation, and death. His death was done as if he didn't have a major role in the story when he could've had a whole chapter with Lily that can give us readers a more in depth scene of their past and how Lily would take the realization of his badly expressed affection for her. I don't want her to forgive him, but I expected a clearer ending between them. Even so, I can see that their short scene that lacked emphasis may have been intentional in the sense that it depicts the consequence of Hessen not changing his behaviour/better showing his care towards his sister sooner since he was a bystander. The consequence being Lily (and actually us readers) not fully knowing him and his loss of what he could of had with Lily as a brother. As I wrote this, I realized that his ending could actually be all about being too late and the feeling of unfulfilled "what if"s
Nevertheless, I still loved the story. The way it depicted self growth and that of a relationship that brought much suffering yet the two people involved chose to mend it in a way that didn't force each other to remain together
