It's not being soft hearted. It's just that the more serious the story becomes, the more difficult it is to support the idea of enslaving other human beings. It's only easy to digest when the plot leans on absurdity and we can dissociate it from reality.
Yes, you're right, if it were a short smut, I wouldn't care, but the longer the story goes and we get to know the characters better, I start to empathize with them.
You know what, at first it was funny but the more chapters I read the more I start to feel sorry for these men... agghh we women are too soft-hearted, men are pigs and deserve to be treated like that but I'm still starting to feel sorry for them...
