From my understanding the Mc is a descendant from this deity that is from that town? And so he has divine power that he awakened when he went there. The teacher that he sub for is dead bc of an drowning that happened 13 years ago, along with the other girls that where later shown. The teacher/killer revealed that they where part of the group of girls that drowned his older sister. He killed them and later took parts from them to assemble his dead sister in hopes she comes back bc of an ancient story he heard of the two deties bring back a Child that was burnt.
