I don't think Tei simply thinks he can be his own knight, so it's more likely for the wish. The only wishes I think Shu wouldn't grant Tei so easily are for him to return/visit Leracal, or for Shu to be with a woman to mitigate the curse. I wonder what else he could possibly be asking for??
