Creds: I was reading the novel as it was being released. I was an active member of its FB fan page, where our executives would interact with the artist on Twitter (before it got weird) who would talk with fans from around the world.
Shipping is only harmful when it leaves the fantasy world and intrudes on the real world. Just like any other device. You have to be careful on how it influences you and make sure that what fantasy you're indulging with your shipping does not hurt the real people around you and your circle.
SCTIR: This story is BL-lite as stated by the author to the fans at the time they were writing this story. They may have walked-backed that statement, but I was there when it was confirmed because the raucous cheers and posts jumped high within the group. This story leans heavily on bromance, but it's underlying quips and banter that led to the BL-lite parts are mainly removed or toned down for the manhwa. (I highly suggest reading the novel from the beginning) So don't blame/yell at the fans for what the author wrote or suggestively implied. And if you do read the novel...here's a bit of spoiler toward the end: Yoojin, unprompted, and without any double meaning, or pretexts, does tell Hyunjae that he loves him. Hyunjae accepts it. This was Yoojin thinking about all the things he and Hyunjae have been through together in the novel and Hyunjae's importance in his life. Is it bromance?? Friendship on a deeper level?? Only the author knows the truth. But I like to believe the author wrote that scene as an acknowledgement (nod) to the fans who saw their relationship in a deeper more bonded light.
