I interpreted it as Eunjae named the pup Hoseon after the shaman Hoseon (probably subconsciously as he didn't actually remember his past life) because he showed him kindness. But the actual Hoseon was reincarnated as San. Bcoz Geumsun said that San had the second strongest spirit he has seen, first was Hoseon.
You're totally right! I went back and checked their eyes, the author made them different between the main characters and hoseon's eyes are the same as san's. Pretty vindictive of Hwan to go after the same souls all over again
