this wouldve been so much better if the bottom was actually a masochistic :[ BDSM without the other partys consent or interest is always just wrong and uncomfortable. if the story was told from the perspective of an unreliable narrator who's secretly a masochist but rejects those thoughts it would've been so much more compelling,, e.g. if his denial at the end regarding his brother was just a way to cope with the societal immortality associated with masochism, so that he could feel morally righteous while still indulging in his masochistic tendencies that wouldve been sooo much more interesting and layered then just coping for copes sake. if every time the top put out a cigarette on the botton, the author couldve shown us how the bottom was always hard but would reject those thoughts maybe even as a form of internalized homophobia.. man idk anything but the actual story wouldve been better here TT
