I mean, yeah, he had a shitty past and I feel sorry for him about that, but just because his past was shitty doesn't mean he can do whatever he wants. And you could see—I mean, sure, he’d had a crush on her since fifth grade, but the way he used to tease her back then even though he liked her... that typical little-boy behavior.I think he’s a shitty friend, though. He’s not just totally overstepping boundaries with her; he’s also treating his friend like absolute crap—insulting him and blaming him, even though the guy has been there for him the whole time and just wants him to be okay. He’s just a shitty person, and I hope he pisses off again.
I also have to say I hated how he compared her feelings to his own; he completely crossed the line and didn't give a f*** about what she actually wanted, whereas she was always considerate of the feelings of the guy she was into. She didn't force herself on him—sure, she was honest about her feelings and open about them, but she didn't constantly chase after him or pester him. In fact, he was the one who initiated most of their interactions. And when she realized the relationship between the two guys was suffering, she even wanted to distance herself; she didn't want to be hated, but she also wanted him to be happy and to realize that his friend was important to him.
See you get it. He got a nasty personality honestly, and yeah to treat the one friend who showed genuine concern and was there for you when nobody else was like that is crazy. And you get difference between how they’re both showing their love. Watanabe doesn’t care whether hodaka feels comfortable, but hodaka does care about making both hayasaka and watanabe uncomfortable with her love for hayasaka
in the real world, watanabe is literally harassing hodaka. she keeps telling no, he’s saying “idc im going to keep telling you i like you and im gonna try to kiss you even though you dont like me”. hes purposely showing off his love in front of the person she likes even though shes told him not to, he knows that hayasaka has a soft spot for him and wants him to be happy, which is why he was avoiding hodaka in the first place. He purposely made hodaka cry and get hurt and literally admitted to it when she asked “isnt it convenient for you that im sad?” Like if you actually like someone you would never do something like that. And then on top of that even after seeing her hurt and crying, you got the audacity to say “See arent i the better choice? Just let me kiss you and date you” like HELLO? No woman in the real world would actually want somebody like watanabe around just straight up harassing them and making them uncomfortable. Idc what his past was like, it doesn’t excuse harassment, i do not like him. And you’re strange if you want him to end up with Hodaka, even after her rejecting him literally everyday, him harassing her, and also almost sexually assaulting her by trying to kiss her without her permission.
