i feel like saying the sex wasnt rape because its 'contractual' is very lawyer-ey talk lol. it doesnt take a genius to see that theres an obvious (huge) power imbalance. the relationship is completely skewed from the start and dan was in a very vulnerable position. he only agreed to it because it was his only option, its very clear that he DIDNT WANT TO, but he felt he HAD TO. i get its fiction, but all that shit that happened in the first season is NOT okay, we dont need to be doing mental gymnastics around the rape just because the main character is hot
people are always talking about how dan was raped and shit but i dont think that ever happened. the sex was not lovey dovey but i dont think he was ever raped. it was contractual. if he was please give me the chapter but i feel like people just started saying that and everybody just agreed even if it never happened.
