What are you talking about? People have been shipping since the dawn of time and people enjoying a non-canon ship is not gonna take attention from canon ships, that's the most ridiculous take I have ever heard. Both are different genres and and have different audiences at times.
This series isn't popular only because of yujin and hyunjae, it is a full fledged novel with various characters which a lot of BL stories(novel content) lack because the genre focuses on the romance aspect. The novel kept their relationship that way not the people adapting it.

Shipping HyunjaexYoojin is NEVER harmless fun, full stop. All it ever brings is mess, drama, and endless nonstop chaos so quit pretending it’s all just cute, innocent little fun like you always do. It actively hurts the entire gay community too! It sucks up all the attention, hype, and support that should be going toward actual proper BL series, or even non-BL stories that do have real, confirmed canon gay characters and relationships. Worse? It’s trained the whole industry to think we’d rather settle for cheap queerbait and fake “bromance” teases than get actual, proper canon queer representation.
And let’s get one thing crystal clear: this is 100% the shippers’ fault. Just look at GMMTV as the perfect example of exactly how bad this is. They pour all their biggest budgets, all their best effort, and all their massive marketing hype straight into obvious queerbait projects like Skynani. Meanwhile? Their actual official, proper BL shows get barely any funding, zero real effort put into them at all, and end up being total garbage boring, low-quality, lazy, half-assed content that’s barely even watchable.
They only run things this way because of you guys. You keep obsessing over and hyping up every tiny little bait moment like it’s some huge win, while completely ignoring or overlooking actual stories that give us real, decent queer representation.
