She didn't really have anything else going for this story, that's it that's what she wanted to write about, a stupidly muscular dude, toxic, abusive, aggressive, that will thrash anyone and everyone for no reason, AND the blanket that will receive all that without blinking. If you boil down the story, there was really no story, and the ending proves it. It doesn't even feel cathartic. Apparently grandma was kept alive for plot reasons, as soon as she was not needed to push Dan down, or make Pickerson hold back at least a little, that's when she was killed. It's crap, and despite I was not closely following it, I'm glad it's over.
