Tbh I was thinking at first it could be just so he'd know if someone is caring weapons but then I remembered him and his son is trying to figure out how witches do magic.
Yknow, I also didn't consider that those glasses could be used in such a way, that's kinda genius. But if they were allowed to have them, there's no guarantee they wouldn't be stolen or sold for nefarious purposes. So I feel like it's a tough situation.
