Maybe you don't get it, but familiar bonds especially parents can't be easily broken off, especially hye sung only have his mom back then to show him love so he's very attached to her, and again don't project your own self to hye sung or the others characters

Because if her new husband hadn't left her too, she wouldn't have come back to find Hyesung and beg for money. She had no problem to break off her bond and remarry and have kids. The only reason she came back was money. That's a fact, because if that wasn't the case she would have gone back for Hyesung and took him into her new family and properly raise and love him.

Everyone who takes Hyesungs trauma seriously can see that this stupid chapter was not genuine and didn't help Hyesung heal even a little. If it had actually helped him, he wouldn't have STILL felt guilty about not wanting to see her again.
