I don't think that's right.
If humans can't play God in fiction where can they play god?
That's one of the joys of being human, they create so much it's awespiring from intergalactic wars, to secret wizard schools, to time travel, to being summoned to other worlds, to cultivating from being a mortal to a god in Chinese fiction, to being gods.
I don't think it's arrogant, human imagination is the reason why we have modern technology.
And that's where we are arrogant. We can build machine, sure. But to say human being build an entire world where fate of the world reside in our hands is, by the lack of better word, arrogant.
Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed reading a lot of fantasies. That was just my critical thinking / food for thought over certain plotline, just like when I read Naruto or Sailormoon. When authors often place 'human' as God, in real life, that idea itself came up to me as too funny.
Human can be so 'arrogant' to assume 'world' can be created out of 'imagination'.. We can't even create quark gluon or electron out of nothing, can't even create time, can't even write out destinies for each creature... and you want to play God. Yeah it's a story alrite, but I wonder why a lot of authors love this typical overplayed nonsensically arrogant plotline..
