I’m only on chapter 53 so maybe it’ll all sort itself out, but I’m a bit confused on what the author’s goal is. For one, there’s a lot of time skips between each major plot point. At first, I liked this because it got to the point. But after a while of this consistently happening between every major event, I feel like there’s just not enough time inbetween events for me to care about anyone or the world. There’s like little to no world building, even the main plot of Fiona being the author and the world being a novel is barely mentioned. Second, Fiona’s motivations are all over the place and it makes no sense for her character. At first, she just wanted to live a quiet life away from the drama of the novel after setting up Siegren and Eunice. She abandons her quiet life eventually to stay with Siegren which is flimsily justified as her trying not to upset him so he won’t kill her later. This is all somewhat reasonable. Until she enters a relationship with Siegren while also still hoping for Siegren and Eunice to get together at some point? The manhwa doesn’t explain this, but I assume Fiona thinks the novel’s plot will gradually fix all of this. But even as we continue way past the point of where the novel should start in the world, Fiona still continues into the relationship with Siegren with no questions. She doesn’t even bat an eye to Eunice witnessing her and Siegren’s relationship, even when we’re made to believe she still thinks Eunice and Siegren will end up together. Lastly, Fiona as a character is just flat. We get rewarding moments where we can see Fiona as a powerful MC, but aside from that she feels empty. The characters around her even comments on her lack of attachments and emotions to those around her. She obviously still thinks of herself as an outsider, but we see no move away from this idea within her even as she becomes closer to Siegren. It’s kinda disappointing how different Fiona is now compared to the beginning of the story, when she could cry over the pain she caused in the world she made and for Siegren. Now, she just feels flat and uncaring. I honestly think her personality could fit and it isn’t necessarily boring considering she’s the author of this world, but it feels repetitive to always show her this way when she’s had reasonable cause to be more human. I do like the plot, and the art is amazing, I just wish it wasn’t so fast paced and had more story building.
