Sarang's problem is painfully obvious, yet some people still refuse to see it and keep inventing excuses for her behavior.

What I want to talk about is this:

1 ) almost everything Yoo Sarang does points more toward sociopathy, although I still have some reasons to think psychopathy could be involved too. There was even a chapter where, based on what sarang says, her mother had to make a rule to stop her from doing something bad at daycare. We also see that she was already acting strangely as a child, and her mother seemed to be the one trying to keep her stable with medication.

2 ) The biggest difference is that sociopathy is usually connected to a person's environment and childhood experiences. Things like abuse, neglect, violence, or growing up in an unstable home can seriously affect how a child develops empathy, emotional bonds, and a sense of right and wrong. Psychopathy is different. Psychopaths are generally believed to be born with certain biological or genetic traits that make them more likely to develop those behaviors from the moment they were born.
> And one EXTREMELY important detail: not all sociopaths or psychopaths are violent, bloodthirsty killers. Most of them blend into society just fine without causing any obvious trouble. Well, at least not unless you work with them, date them, or end up losing money because of them.

3 ) And no, a single traumatic event usually isn't enough to create a sociopath. According to specialists, antisocial behavior is more often linked to a long pattern of trauma and unhealthy experiences throughout childhood. That's exactly the kind of thing we can see in Sarang's backstory.

Of COURSE, Sarang is a fictional character, so none of us can diagnose her for real. However, based on what the story shows us, sociopathy seems far more plausible than claiming she's just "misunderstood," autistic (which, in my opinion, is a pretty offensive assumption), or any other explanation.

Sorry if my English isn't the best, but it honestly gets on my nerves seeing so much misinformation, especially when people act like someone who casually talks about killing or hurting others must be autistic. Autistic people are NOT sociopaths or psychopaths, and throwing those things together just makes the prejudice even worse.

Honestly, I still have a strong suspicion that psychopathy might be involved. We know almost nothing about Sarang's family besides her father being a disgusting alcoholic. We barely know anything about her mother either.

Sociopathy seems like the most likely explanation for now, but there are still way too many unanswered questions. I need more. MORE BACKSTORY, more family details, more clues—because I'm still suspicious as HELL.

i agree with all your points and also aren't psychopaths generally charismatic? the way i was taught/how i remember in psych was

psychopaths -> lack of empathy (aspd), understanding of what is normal and how to blend in
sociopaths -> lack of empathy (aspd), lack of social awareness which results in outcast role

again to your point she is fictional!! but it does seem like she was written to be a sociopath

Well tbf, FL seems to be able to be quite calculative and has a good knack for “using” people to her advantage (that one chap) so.. But we’ll see more.
