I didn't pay much attention to it at first cause I read way too much, but re-reading it's really clear this is psychological and not some alien/alternate reality thing. Lee starts bleeding from his nose on ch1 where there's a massacre on a restaurant, when confronted with police they didn't even saw him which means he could be dead, on purgatorium, on a coma or just traumatized and used the whole restaurant plot to deny reality, cause he sees the moon right before he gets a nosebleed and whenever he starts to doubt things Hwi's image gets distorted with moon fragments. Let's get on it. On ch2 he talks about 2 roommates and in the couch there's 2 covers in the couch beside Lee, ch3 Lee says "I wish it was all a dream" and colors get more livid as he sees new Hwi, ch4 new Hwi says "now do you see" after kissing Lee (in black an white panels) and Lee gets a nosebleed like in 1st chapter. Ch8 Lee's facing Hwi's death in black and white with the moon panel, maybe this is just Lee's mind processing grief. Ch15 Lee gets raped, it's unclear Hwi's involvement (did he kill rapist or just watched, or died that day, or was he a rapist), ch18 there's confrontation and Lee calls new Hwi a killer for chapter 1 deaths at restaurant, ch20 new Hwi tells Lee to ask him for help and takes Lee's head, ch21 looks like Hwi liked to hurt Lee and made him feel repleaceble showing flashbacks and we see more of Hwi looking like the moon as Lee faces Hwi's possible abusive side, ch22 Lee calls Hwi a disaster/catastrophe (the moon again), ch23-25 flashbacks to middle school. I truly think Lee was abused by Hwi and his friends, and this is Lee's way of processing grief, refusing to accept Hwi's abusive nature, and so he sees the moon of the beginning that causes his nosebleed and killed everyone except him as Hwi, his catastrophe.
