May I know why this manhwa is overhype?

Apologize, I didn't know the existence nor read the novel, but one thing for sure it is cliche but has a unique concept different from other manhwa's I read.

As a first timer, introduction is a bit confusing but I
do got a gist of it, but the confusion might be because of the translation.

I sometimes saw posts or comments how peeps is excited and all that this novel is finally adapted.

So why is this overhype? In future chapters, was there any intresting event that will make you excited or hyped?

So far despite with confusion I do love it because its unique and it introduce you with different horror stories, how will MC solved it but would that be it? Will it keep repeating? New horror then resolve and then cycle?

So as a novel reader does it deserve that overhype, I'm open with spoilers ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~

so i read the novel and also a fan of horror story themed game like, for example house of horrors or i became a god in a horror game, a lot of novel readers are probably excited because its been a long existing novel that bds(author) wrote along side debut or die and we have a lot of expectations on adaptation. so from a perspective of a novel reader, its indeed a good read, they are a lot of characters that will get introduced in the story and it will definitely get better (story wise and the type of ghost stories getting introduced), currently we are at chapter 20 in the manhwa and chapter 17 in the novel so i advised to stick around since there isn't a lot of information that will be given in the short chapters, as a novel reader i agree that it does deserve the hype-! (i can answer questions if you're curious abt smth or want specific spoilers~)

because it flips the standard "survival horror" trope on its head, instead of a typical action hero, the protagonist is a tired, relatable office worker who treats the paranormal apocalypse like an actual day job, he's a coward but is forced to be professional lol, also, I'm not going to spoil it here, so check your message ! :D

Novel reader here! For the sake of others I'll keep it as spoiler free as I can.

It definitely deserves the hype! The introduction is a bit confusing because the opening was rearranged where we see Kim Soleum already in the orientation, whereas in the novel we follow the chronological order (him at the event, his passion for Dark Exploration Records, and then getting isekaid). The manhwa's presentation reverses this, which can cause confusion about the current setting.

To answer about the plot, the horror stories that Soleum is continuously thrown in will be solved, but it won't be a one-time plot point. Most of the horror stories will become plot relevant later on, I can't think of a single point in the novel where the horror story was irrelevant to the plot or character development.

We're currently only at the point where they're just setting the tone and getting you used to the world, so there is nothing too complicated yet. It will eventually feel less like "MC is a Mary Sue who can solve everything!" and more like "MC is doing everything in his power to go home" the more the story progresses. There will be many twists and interactions that is to come that will make the story a lot more enjoyable!

    [SPOILER]

it's not overhyped at all. since you said you were alright with spoilers then here are the reasons why i think it deserves the hype as someone who has read the novel.

    1. the reason why the novel initially got the hype was because it is by the same author as debut or die. if you've read dod then you would know this author doesn't play about their mcs. and i personally find their narration style crazy entertaining.

    2. the mc. kim soleum's character could've carried this whole novel. as you know, he's a coward. but that's not the limit of his personality. he has a high tendency to sacrifice himself (it becomes even more extreme in part 2). and unlike other action mcs he does face failures and the consequences. like getting contaminated multiple times and [major spoilers] at the end of part 1 he quite literally loses his humanity and ends up in a slave contract with one of the directors of daydream inc. and he didn't regain his body and sane mind for multiple arcs. honestly kim soleum as a character is very unpredictable. he doesnt stay the same person the whole way through and actually grows (or loses his mental stability)

    3. the plot isn't that they solve one ghost story collect companions and move on. some earlier arcs will even appear later. some of them even have crazy foreshadowings. and the mc doesn't just stay in daydream inc and keep solving ghost stories, he actually infiltrates the supernatural disaster management bureau (aka the good guys of their world) in the later half of the part 1 as a spy. that spy arc is imo one of the most anticipated arcs (it's also my personal favourite) because the bureau's work environment is total opposite from daydream and probably also because it has agent choi whose popularity in this fandom is no joke.

    4. i don't want to give spoilers on this particular point so I'm just gonna say it vaguely. you can keep your hopes up on why and how kim soleum suddenly got transmigrated to the ghost story world. and also why he can't just stay in that world instead of trying so hard to the point of going out of his way to put himself through situations worse than death.

    5. last but not the least, the horror tag is really no joke, especially in the 1st part. if the adaptation goes right, then it could become even more horrifying.

that's all i could think of off the top of my head at the moment. but i think that's more than enough reason why this novel deserves the hype.

Hey Ya'll, Thank you! I really appreciate the reasons and efforts to avoid spoiler as much as possibleヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~ now I had an idea where the story goes! Though surprised with the downvotes since as what I said It's my first time reading this and no idea what will be the future arcs that will make me stay reading this, like I get it his working to solve different horror stories smartly, he is quick and that many of them is surprised behind his reasoning, is that all? That's why I ask what's the hype. I read a lot of manhwa's with repetitive plot and it gets tiring or boring after that, its great that It wont stick with only solving horror stories and there's another arcs completey different.

Anywayss before asking this, I already love it because its unique, just genuinely curious the progress of the plot and the hype behind it.
