If you're referring to the green blob on the cover, thats an archmage overworked alien.
Can he kill monster? ..well, the body the alien is possesing is currently very weak so when he does its very low level monsters. And with the power of weak facial muscle control, misunderstandings and knowledge on magic he uses people to have his work cut out for him.
I'd rec you just read the first ten chps and see how it goes. Just a warning for the slow pacing however. Appereently it's long before he gets the lungs(something he needs to be stronger)
