I didn't read the novel but I roughly read in a comment that ml needs that arrange marriage as a condition for his inheritance I think. Tho he plans to divorce afterwards. So the whole mc pregnancy is really ruining his life plans or some sorts.
<My theory/opinion> Based on flashback ml is also another orphan, and mc was his childhood friend. Seems like all his generosity comes from that childhood connection. Maybe kinda like sharing his blessings thingy? So this pregnancy makes ml's position in his current family precarious.
Imo the conflict here is the imbalanced expectations. Mc expects to be loved unconditionally, so everytime ml acts kindly to him he goes delulu bout his feelings. But then also crashes out whenever that expectation is ruined. Mc is too immature, he knows nothing of the world, and acts based on his feelings. He lived a hard life but he only learned how to endure and not to grow. That's why I always cringe when he does smthn stupid
Ml on the other had... I feel sorry for him. His actions may seem like mixed signals, but not really, it's only cause we have mc pov. He was suspicious tho, and he gives a little too much. I feel like a lot of misunderstandings would've been solved if he didn't coddle the mc too much. I mean if someone also paid to much attention to me outta nowhere I might also think they like me ya know.
Verdict. Its a happy ending but it feels kinda meh. Ml looks liked he was baby trapped. They obv have feelings for each other, but mc is too immature and ml is acting like a people pleaser
