I'm guessing the "hero" is the catalyst to the prince's doom, maybe he did some taboo shit in his past life to bring him back, and was cursed as a result. New dude is maybe the one that helped him do it in the past life, and is now trying to contain it... or even the opposite who knows. Still too little to make conjectures
