i had the same thoughts too when i first started reading LOL but no baby is just his work name since they all call each other by aliases and baby is a shortened v of his real name bae eaby, and idk if the art gotta better but it stopped botherinf me as much over time and is actually a really heartwarming story once it all adds up plotwise!
