Should i drop...?

jjk June 8, 2026 4:21 pm

It seems in the comments there are many debates abt whether its appropriate to ship Jeremy and his step mother....and some ppl even claim that he never or doesnt see her as a parental figure, when its clear he does bc theyre continously verbalizing this many times and she reciprocates the sentiment. Id really prefer fl ends up w someone who doesnt need her as a mother figure and doesnt get the emotions confused...i dont want to trouble the author w negative feelings so i might just drop this story all tog before it turns sour for me, since im enjoying the plot but some hints of romance bw them are making my stomach drop...i couldnt even imagine relating to that kind of romance...TT id prefer her with Nora, who she immediately took an interest in, who is her friend and confidant and never replaced his mother w her....

I agree that their emotions are a bit complicated and murky but it cannot be morally wrong to ship two ppl that only have a 2 year age difference. If my father remarried a young woman around my age I simply would not be able to see her as a mother figure. To me those are very different relationships. Yes she is the elder and head of house who he has to respect and defer to but that alone does not make someone a mother.

But this is just my modern view. Obviously I condemn selling a 14 year old girl and grooming her to take care of his children like that. In that time period the context slides a blurry glass shard over it
