Probably the author leading us to 2nd lead syndrome with Ian
it would realistically be pretty difficult to moniter someone 24/7 + they're good friends. but also if hyeonu had no leeway with eunchong at all then it would be extremely obvious that ian is endgame. so i guess author is just playing a game of push and pull with the mls.
It seems out of character for him to step aside and give Hyeonu time to bond with the main character.
