I still think Tei is only doing this as his "duty" and that he sees himself as a tool to be used. Sure, he may want it but i think it's more of fulfilling that need before his own needs. Makes me think if later in the story if Tei will get hurt in such a way that will make him go back to his homeland. Especially since his thoughts seem to go that route more than I think people realize. This is all just a theory I have, so don't take it to heart.
