nah man it really doesnt… ml keeps saying how he’ll take whatever punishment the mc wants but in the end nothing really happens no suffering no pain no nothing the classic mc gets kidnapped and ml saves him type shit. felt like the mc was a doormat.

i mean hey i’ve been reading bls since 2022 and i got a really high standart for redemption / chasing arcs and quite frankly there hasn’t been a single manga in my opinion with an actually satisfying redemption arc, i’ll explain what happens in this manga as clearly as i can so you can decide if you want to start it - starts off nice enough i guess where the MLs friend just kills some random man in a bar that they’re trying to take over, sending some of the people into prostitution(i think)and taking some of the people to work for them uke ends up working for them and soon enough learns the seme has insomnia and can’t sleep well one day the seme high on drugs finds the uke and sleeps with him i really can’t remember if this was rape or not. but seme seems to think because of the drugs he forced himself on the uke and tries giving him money, following him along wherever he goes and apologizes then they start sleeping together not having sex but jsut sleeping because the seme can sleep well next to the uke things go on like this and seme teaches uke how to read/write buys him candy and tells him sweet stuff then something goes wrong, and then another thing, another, another after so many things go wrong in which one of the problems is uke being missing (he was badly hurt trying to run from people who were gonna kill him) seme comes to the conclusion that uke was a spy for the enemy and he orders his men to find him, they find him. seme slaps uke and locks him in his room where he rapes him mind you the seme throughly enjoys raping the uke, chaining him, threats to kill his mom, degrading and humiliating him, getting him addicted to drugs so that he can enjoy raping him even more, then one day seme learns uke didnt do anything wrong and while he’s going home to the uke he see’s that uke cut his wrist i think? sends him to the hospital he wakes up seme says sorry etc and that he’ll accept whatever punishment blablabla our spineless uke acts like nothing happened, he still blushes in front of him, talks to him normally, offers to sleep together because he knows seme insomnia just really fucking rage bait honestly. then the uke leaves to another house and tells seme he can come visit anytime he wants then uke gets kidnapped by the enemy, gets 2 fingers cut and sent to seme, seme goes to save uke, seme dies, uke dies. they get reborn and make up.

As per redemption arcs, I think a decent one is from “Beyond the Memories”.
It really showed the Seme hurting and doing his best to make up for past mistakes.
And the Uke dragged him along, just to hurt him even more haha.
Not surenif you’ve read it, but it’s worth the read
they started off so fucking good and just had to ruin it.. what pisses me off the most is the fact that all these MLs throughly ENJOY raping the bottom whenever there’s a misunderstanding etc and when theyre done having fun they just suck up for a few chapters and all is well?
