They don't become mates because this manga is about a girl boss, and a girl boss can't get a mate, that's too diminishing appearantly.
I know this was supposed to be a copy-paste 'girlboss' cliché story and all, but I'd love for once to see the couple to go their separate ways, since both have different views of their ideal relationship, and not always having the man/top compromise, and make all the sacrifices for the woman/bottom's happiness. As if the man/top's happiness is always related to the woman/bottom, and the woman/bottom's happiness is always getting everything he/she wants.
This is a deeply flawed representaton of reality that's only going to produce dysfunctional individuals who won't ever be able to build a relationship that lasts.
