Although it's sad to see, I do understand why he's being this dismissive towards the real Sherina's death... we need time to process grief and realize that person really is gone. For all effects, Shelina is right there before his eyes alive and well so the idea that there was another one who actually died might be quite the hard concept to grasp. Someone whom I lived with died, yet I only managed to cry about it a month after it happened. It simply doesn't feel real when you still see their shoes by the door and their favorite mug on the kitchen table! Imagine seeing the person themselves in front of you, how are you supposed to even feel anything immediately like that? Even if it's a fantasy world with magic, it IS estated that it's not a common occurrence and reincarnation was only possible due to a rare holy artifact that could only once.
