Hes is also not a real person... It would be one thing of people were criticising the authors insensitive handling of grooming, or discussing the character along with mentioning their distaste, but all I see is comments like "why would the author write a character like Ray ewws" "tell me when Ray finally leaves" flaunting their moral superiority around "look at how morally correct my freezing ice cold take is!!!"

Its really strange to me to completely ignore his character when he is important to understanding Ban's character as well as insight into the elite class of this universe. We shouldn't be treating fictional characters serving as plot devices as if they are real people to be booed at for their heinous actions. there is LITERALLY nobody to recieve these boos cause their booing is directed at pixels in a screen.

A crude example, but it's like if I opened a discussion thread about Vladimir nabokovs lolita and all I saw was people saying "I dropped it cause I couldn't stand humbert..." "Humbert is so gross shit like this should never be written ew...." instead of like actually discussing the book

I think you shouldn't be taking this that seriously. They're all fictional characters and we are allowed to dislike or hate a character that doesn't align with our morals. Just because it is fiction doesn't mean that grooming and pedophilia is okay all of a sudden. That's fine. When it's written into the story, sometimes the point is for you to see that this character is flawed to the max and is not a good person. Hating a character doesn't mean that we are treating them as real. I hate thanos for what he does but I understand his character. I do not see him as real just because of how I feel. I don't want to see a sex scene between ray and ban because it's the result of something gross. Nothing wrong with that.

id usually agree with this sentiment bc i think well written, terrible characters are suuuper interesting to read but in this case, i just don’t think ray is interesting either and its too early to tell if he’s well written as we don’t know anything yet i think it’s just the fact that knowing he was involved w ban when he was a minor and then having EVERY single one of their scenes be so graphic makes for a pretty uncomfortable read (and not in an interesting way bec it’s literally just them having sex …….. ). i just don’t get why all their scenes have to be sex scenes and why they last sooooo long ?? like we see ray as much as we see shinwi and the latter is the main character… and the times that we do see ray, we don’t rly learn much about him, we just see him and ban having sex and see ray doing that fake smile but that’s it ;-; i rly like everything abt this manhwa other than ray so it annoys me that so much of this manhwa consists of him and his Extremely uncomfortable relationship with ban i wish they would at least just allude to their sex scenes and pan away or smth instead of showing it in graphic detail everytime

I don't understand why people complain when there are uncomfortable themes such as violence or sexual assault. They'll complain that the grooming was unnecessary and they don't want it when it's literally an integral part of the story.
Like that's the point?

I like dark and psychological themes. And I enjoy Ray as a character. I feel like there's a lot to flesh out.
I feel like you can't express joy at darker stories/themes/characters here without people wielding their sanctimonious swords at you.
I think the most annoying thing is when they somehow think because you liked this one character, you agree with the immoral actions of the characters. Like it's a spectacularly lazy nearsighted line of thinking.
