    No actually it’s the better treatment of slave company, more functionally something like the debtors prison, « happy slaves with visible markings like tattoos » just puts me off completely

    The manga cut off that part, but owners of debt slaves can make the mark invisible if they want (except if the owner is slave merchant and if the slave visits the Imperial castle). We can see in a later chapter that Misha doesn't have the mark on her neck anymore.
