the monster baekjeok wakes up from his 1 yr slumber, he meets with ''chohee" and they spend 6 happy years on the mountain. baekjeok goes to get "chohee" a gift in town and realizes the town has magic placed over it. then theres the flashback.
the flashback is through real chohees perspective. it shows chohee's mother running away from her abusive husband (chohees dad). then it shows chohee falling in love with the broken leg boy, who her father disapproves of bc he is low born. baekjeok kills chohees father and chohee realizes she is now free to marry her first love, the broken leg boy.
to get out of marrying baekjeok, she strikes up the 1 year nap bargain and the monster goes to sleep. chohee pays the shaman to make it so the time in the mountain slows. so 1yr on the mountain = 15 in reality. in those 15yrs, chohee marries the boy and has a child, who we see is "chohee" aka the girl baekjeok has been with for the past 6 years (15×6=90yrs in reality).
baekjeok realizes hes been tricked and shoves chohees daughter past the mountains border (those stone statue things), so the magic breaks on her and chohees daughter ages rapidly and dies. as shes dying she says baekjeok never knew her real name. baekjeok tries to revive her by placing her skull on the mountain but it doesn't work, only gods can do this. upset, he goes to town to find the real chohee but shes long dead and the town is abandoned.
he goes back up the mountain and finds the daughter's skull again, which he hugs. he sleeps a long time, dreaming about both chohees. then he wakes up in the modern age.
