The boy is a ghost, that's for sure. But it looks like he's just one of a cluster, or something? At a spot where several supposed suicides took place, perhaps? Except maybe some of them weren't, they were the ghosts, or so it looks to me. And he latched on to her because of his crush, and maybe her so-called bad luck is a factor as well.
So, is he really trying to help her, or is this the ghost cluster's way of luring her to join it/them? I think it's not that simple. Or is he trying to act independently of the monster, but can't free himself because it's too late for him? He already stopped her once.
