you really are projecting. When a young boy has had an inferiority complex built into him, you cannot expect it to disappear. He will always feel inadequate and undeserving because he grew up being told he is that. I don’t see it like that, I think he’s like that because of the way he was raised with a father like that it was comprehensive he would turn out like that, he never had anyone to teach him how to love neither how to fix his mistakes until the ml, who showed him how, and that’s why he’s changing, of course he couldn’t chance alone, without someone helping him and with a father like his around.
About the running away thing he was only a teen who wanted the love of his parents he just didn’t know that, so when he received it he wanted to stay, and I also don’t think his venting was wrong, even though his friend had a worse life doesn’t mean the mc life was easy even though it wasn’t as bad it affected the mc the same way.
I know having an asshole father doesn’t mean you can be an asshole, but how could he be other than what his father told him. But when he met the ml he started to be better because now he had someone to teach him.
