For anyone upset about this not having a "good ending" I don't think you understand the meaning of tragic literature. It's not meant to be happy. There is character development, but not the development you want. Yes it is Stockholm syndrome, and that can be a reality. The writing and pacing is incredible. You will feel devastated, shocked, and I cried many times. Don't expect the characters to do what you want. This is a thriller tragedy and it lives up to that.
