Agreed, I thought it was going to be Stockholm syndrome at first too, until I read some detailed analyses from novel readers and saw the childhood flashbacks. They were actually in love before this whole horrible situation happened.
And last I checked, I don't think someone can suffer from Stockholm syndrome with a person they already had feelings for. At least, that's how I understand Stockholm syndrome if I'm correct
