I think the author got heavily inspired by POTN, Pearl Boy and the likes of those webtoons. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing coz these webtoons are also popular.
What she missed is, those webtoons always had those dark rapey tone from the beginning! None of the stuff that happened in those webtoons were particularly shocking and readers eventually got used to the tone and the stress. However, CBAW isn't like that. It had that SOL vibe with minor real life conflicts from the beginning. So all of a sudden when author puts these stuff infront of readers, it gets hard to swallow.
If author meant this to be a AU/bad ending, then that would have been different and fans wouldn't have been this resistant. I think authors should learn from the author of Boss Bitch Baby (the name is sooo awkward!
