compared to how SA is typically depicted in BL this was actually relatively tame. i say this because, yes, we understand dub con and non con were themes early on. AND, the way that the flashback is depicting sexual encounters does not seem as though it is intended to aroused or titillate. we have clear examples between the leads in the present time of how the author draws things when it’s supposed to be erotic. these flashbacks very clearly show the perpetrator as the focus and how it’s impacting the victim. all to say would i describe it as “tasteful”? no we could always be less graphic, but it’s a graphic story.
