honestly i hate this trope sooo much in bl too. if you think about it, it’s kind of homophobic. like, the idea that a straight guy can just "turn gay" kinda plays into the stereotype that gay men are somehow out to convert straight men. ykwim? maybe im too woke, but it reminds me of the whole "gay men preying on straight men" propaganda that was so rampant back in the day.
The statement could've just said "he THINKS he's 100% hetero" because at least there's room for further discovery considering his monologue and the fact he allowed Ian to hit
It would be somehow understandable if the "straight" party would yet to explore their identity that doesn't seem to register to them still. I know by the next season that we're going to undergo that kind of development but the said stereotype you've mentioned does apply to this peculiar setting and establishes a harmful agenda. Though, I trust in the author's execution ╮(￣▽￣)╭
This isn't some form of criticism or whatever, but was I the only one that was sort of icked by the creator's note stating how eunsan is "100% straight"?? Maybe it's because I seem to be tired of this trope especially since it's fairly common in BLs nowadays and seeing that trope being applied here is quite odd. Reading that extra rubbed me the wrong way because I feel like it had been conveyed badly or smth I get that it's fiction, but what kind of straight guy bends himself over a man that just fucked him over?? I know it's supposed to portray a "late awakening" but I feel like it should've been handled OR worded alternatively.
