But what is he actually "rebelling" against?
Indeed whenever he got told off by Guwon he just went and done smth to the mc again. But it doesn't seem to me like a courageous rebelling against guwon's authority nor against his favouritism towards mc.
After the first incident, he simply doesn't acknowledge that his display of power (which he could do freely up till that point) has now to exclude MC. To me all the attacks on mc just seem like MISPLACED anger ~ he vents being on the receiving end of guwon's punishment on mc because he can't vent it on Guwon himself. And it becomes a spiral because he can't tone done his emotions and just gets more angry/vindictive. That isn't courageous, rebellious and definitely not smart but hot-headed, proud, and stupid.
I'm with u but I feel like he hurts guwon with hurting teach
Like if the last scene is him trying to kill teach
He is literally suiciding but still knows that this will hurt guwon if u know what I mean
And why he does that ? Ur right ,his pride got hurt to this point ,
Which is rare between all the characters that we saw until now .they just shut there mouth when they get hurt or their loved ones get killed infront of them.
That's why his pride is unique in this story and his anger is very real
That's a characters I would like and not hate
Okay I see what you mean. But still there were and are characters who oppose(d) Guwon. The father of that sick boy, the dead doctor did, and the black hair girl is trying to prepare for rebellion.
You are still right that most of the characters (all at some point) are passive observers complicit to guwon's order. And that the readhead's emotions are probably the most raw and most articulated. So in a sense he is breaver than most.
But also, he has advantage over the ppl in the town because he is a hound and the story presents them as more valuable to guwon. And he is not breaking any 'rules'... now what that means is a bit complicated because essentially Guwon is the rules, but we also see that as long as someone's opposition is well argued he accepts it. So maybe he was confident that there won't be grave consequences since he wasn't really doing smth "wrong", and he couldn't have known how deep Guwon has it for MC.
I am not sure if I am making sense, but the difference between readhead and townspeople is that they cannot afford any mistake, while he has already been "forgiven" twice/three times(?) despite defying guwon. His position is just so different (privileged) that his emotions and actions have more (safer) space to be articulated.
At the end of the day, you convinced me that he shouldn't be hated as a character, and that his pride makes him unique. Whether I like him, that is personally still a no.

Ppl are saying that the redhead is stupid and shi like that but I feel like he just have the courage to do what no one else can and to rebel even if he's weak and alone
Like he just lost an eye because of teach (he think he ratted him out twice)ofc he is gonna try a take his revenge
