I think- the second loop that was shown with the past Duke- he did the same, sent Alois away, hoping he sees the world and finds someone else or a women but in the end he came back to the Duke and showed that his feelings are real and not an illusion. And since it’s a loop-
I suppose even tho the past Duke knew the future he still went through with what his future self did because he knew what the end was, but not the feelings and experience itself- so the loop continues of the Duke rejecting him and wanting him to grow up well in society, meeting many people and eventually finding someone who he truly loves to settle down with.
