Shippers can get extreme yes but they DON'T necessarily ruin the fandom, it just depends on which side you are and which side YOU CHOOSE to interact with. People are not dumb enough to know if a story has no queer rep, what you're trying to say is a very thin line from being homophobic yourself. You can point out how insane these shippers can get but who says shipping has to be something canon? People have imaginations and have different perspectives, you can read it platonic while others see romantic and they're allowed to feel that way because well it's their fucking choice- stop generalizing people of what they are because everyone is different, think different and see things differently. Your point is very pointless and have been discussed numerous times throughout countless fandoms like the examples you pointed out yourself, it's crazy to me how you still don't or can't comprehend the fact that no matter what you think or say shippers will ship what they want and think of and the goods and harms of it will come like every fandom because well no one is normal lol esp in fandoms like these.

Let’s stop letting Hyunjae x yoojin shippers and in general shippers to gaslighting us into believing their shipping is “just harmless fun” and doesn’t hurt the gay community. I wouldn't have gaf if weren't for the fact their aggressive reactions don’t just reflect on them, they fuels stereotype the whole community. Thus bringing hate to the community.
For starters, they regularly harass and attack creators just because the story doesn’t align with their personal delulu. Well-known mangaka like Horikoshi (mha), the author of Gachiakuta, and many others have all faced hate because of shippers. They also tell people who simply call out their delulu behavior and told them to simply just support actual gay stuff to “go die,” and lash out aggressively at anyone who doesn’t see things their way. This isn’t just a small group in one single fandom, it’s a pattern that repeats everywhere. Honestly? It’s almost funny how their own toxic actions only prove our point: shipping is never just for fun harmless as they keep claiming.
They’re entitled, overbearing, and hostile, so when they face hate, it’s completely deserved. The unfair part is that people watch this behavior and wrongly generalize it, assuming all gay act this way. They end up painting the entire queer community with the same negative brush, all because of the actions of this loud, problematic minority. In many ways, this kind of toxic shipping culture is one of the most harmful things we have to deal with, it neglect the genuine representation for deluluness, fuels unfair stereotypes, and gives all of us an undeserved bad reputation for no good reason
