I read that chapter and instantly thought "he must really admire his aunt" he obviously feels like a burden to his aunt, Hence why his cousin says "does he still think mom took him in out of pity?" so he is inspired by his Aunt who embroiders delicate pieces.
In my mind he doesn't want his aunt to think he was a burden to take in, so he aspired to be someone who is useful and has talent... y'all are weird for thinking that he's interested in his aunt
I can somewhat understand that perspective from the FL... since shes kinda innocent and doesn't think too much..... But y'all literally just read the perspective of each character in this chapter
