i’m pretty sure he like… isekai-ed into the world of the scp like website they have. i got really confused too when it got to baek saheon and being a “named character” but turns out it just means he’s a prevalent character on the website/forums and is alive ig. like just characters in a normal novel but instead of a novel its a community made lore website
The relevance of being a named character means that the character is actually named (and is on multiple records), as opposed to just being called 'a random civilian' 'a daydream employee' etc. For example of an exception, our Lee Jaheon is referred to in the wiki as 'Employee D' or by his codename 'Lizard'. Likely was never meant to a named character and kept unnamed for lols cause he was meant as a joke character. It's also relevant that revealing your name in a ghost story is bad luck, so a character going into a ghost story would be unlikely to be called by name and the wiki writers would probably refrain from naming as it would seem more in-character (the records follow a format). It does not necessarily mean the character is alive currently or that they'll never die, just that they're known throughout as part of the wiki's lore. Since it is about ghost stories, there's a lot of characters in the wiki that only show up to die, not worth mentioning by any special name. That's why named characters are significant, they're not cannon fodder. Named characters are usually also not random civilians.
I think this is more confusing for people who don't have experience with wikis I also agree that a lot happens really fast here compared to the novel. Also, like everything, it makes so much more sense later on why the beginning is like this.
ooohhh that makes so much sense!! so the reason why kse new baek saheon wld live through the beginning is cuz he was mentioned in a ghost story as an employee, so he had to have lived through the initiation stage right? yeah the whole wiki thing is really new to me, but its really cool! super unique, i’ve never read an isekai like this but i kinda like learning abt how wikis work while reading the manhwa. also lowkey the beginning was confusing but later on it made a lot more sense, i think its fine now since there’s less exposition to get through

I wanna love this so bad but the first few chapters were so confusing for me
