But I do think we can feel as an audience that the situation is unfair to Sahan as a whole. Philip in his (understandable) weakness put the burden of his mental stability on Sagan’s shoulders. I’m actually much more angry/annoyed at Philip’s family for indulging Philip in his dependency and not keeping a closer eye on him despite knowing of his instability and depression. He was suicidal for a while after all…
Sure, but my issue is with people saying things like, "Why would he do that to Sahan?" He didnt do it to Sahan, he did it to himself.
Its as hilarious as the usual "think about your family and friends" line when it comes to suicide. They couldnt even think about themselves in a healthy way, what makes you think they were capable of thinking about everyone else.
The only enemy here is depression and his family
I agree with your opinion. 100%. Depression and Philip’s family is the enemy – not Philip himself. Reader’s are just pointing fingers at the most accessible target. It’s misplaced. It can just be hard to really be understanding when it might not something that they’re familiar with. Depression has unfortunately become such a buzzword that it has lost some of its meaning to a lot of people without experience.
And it’s a really good point you’re bringing up in regards to the mentality of someone with severe depression. There’s not enough space to care enough for their own well being, so where would the space to think of the aftermath be? Oftentimes they think of themselves as unnecessary after all. Or even better off not existing. (At least that’s my own understanding.)
I really hope (in regards to the plot) that Philip’s family doesn’t make the situation even harder than it already will be for Sahan out of grief and/or misplaced anger.
Some readers should stick to popular yaoi slop tbh because some of the takes ive seen about mental health are so jarring. Theres no depth or compassion whatsoever like what do you mean "manipulative move," "parasite," or "hes an adult, so if suicide is his only option, then fuck him".
Damn, God forbid a story portrays the ugly side of mental illness. God forbid a mentally ill character who isn't perfect victim, isn't MC, of part of your favorite yaoi couple, is allowed to exist.

I dont even care about Philip, but I better not see another take like, "Why would he do that?", "so unfair of him to do that to Sahan," or "Hes selfish."
The man was chronically depressed, and he killed himself. He did that to himself, not to anyone else. Im sure he wasnt thinking, "Let me off myself so that Sahan guy will suffer even more muahaha," in his last moments.
Sure its unfortunate that things will probably go downhill for the people he left behind, and in this case, Sahan. But you cant really put the blame on him for "making Sahan guilty" because he didnt make that choice for him, just like you cant blame Sahan for staying in Korea.
A persons suicide isnt a deliberate act to punish or burden the people around them. The consequences are tragic, but thats not the same thing as intent.
