I have a feeling y'all are overthinking this cuz like yeah, he could have a random change of heart and be trying to save him... OR he could have killed the random guy one, to get teach's attention and two, to create an alibi of sorts. Cuz hear me out, if he forces him to kill himself and then claims the guy he shot pushed him he could claim he shot the guy in defense of teach.
