When did he get unconditional support from them? What did I miss? From the last chapter, I interpreted that he had to pretend to be like that little girl just to be loved by them, while also realizing they weren’t buying it. And I’m not denying the “weirdo” allegations. This is what happens when someone is constantly in defensive mode. He’s basically been on high alert since childhood.
Bro them not abandoning him is the bare minimum. Even biological siblings do stuff like that. Most of the time it’s not psychopathy, it’s just kids being kids and thinking “oh mom can’t sleep let me make the crying stop real quick”. And as for the parents being amazing people? We already saw them spend all that time with the other girl and then adopt someone else. Hate Jaemin if you want that’s your opinion. But saying the parents gave him unconditional love feels like a stretch when we haven’t actually seen any of that so far.
idk man i hated my sister and i never thought of suffocating her when she cried, i think he had some deep underlying problems in his brain and his parents forgave him even after that, so it really was pretty supportive. he wasn’t even replaced by them, they were rightfully uncomfortable with him but they still gave him love throughout
I get where you’re coming from and your feelings are so valid. I’m not gonna sit here and pretend his family never had any reason to feel uncomfortable. But when I look at him, I don’t see a kid with psychopathy/sociopathy. I see a kid who grew up without love…at least for now. Then again who knows maybe a few chapters from now I’ll be eating my words if new info (about his disturbed mind) comes out.
Yeah this
Chances are this was how he was put to be quiet/sleep by his biological parents/relatives, because he thought these are normal actions. He's not even trying to intentionally kill the sister.
Kid really went ??? at his parents getting scared.
A normal, loving parents would be scolding Jaemin for what he did, then ask why he'd think it's a good idea, if he dislike his sister, or he just has his brain up his butt. Parents really straight up treating him like a neighbour's kid that you're forced to babysit. This is not how unconditional love looks like. Loving families CARE if you're aware what you're doing is wrong or otherwise. That's what the sister is doing. The sister's the only one loving him unconditionally. But Jaemin was already too scared and broken by how his adoptive parents felt towards him to realize it.
It's also normal for children coming from high-stressed, abusive, and unsafe environment to be emotionally numb/reserve. He doesn't feel much joy or sadness, only seeking for comfort and safety.

He was just a baby when the first abuse came from his biological parents. Then as an adopted kid, I don’t think he was ever fully accepted as part of the family, especially after he tried to delete his sister. At school too. Maybe he thought he was good at disguising himself but teenagers are really good at picking up on insecurity. It feels like he grew up his whole life with almost no support, except maybe from the sister?
I’m not excusing his behavior as an adult. He needs to do better like yesterday. Jaemin needs to be transparent (which he’s doing here by explaining himself) and he also needs someone who can accept him as he is (so don’t be shocked when Taeyoon eventually gives him another chance). Again I’m not saying he should be free of consequences. I’m just saying that sometimes people aren’t strong enough to change on their own and they need a bit of support to become better.
